Dawn Bulgarella has been named senior associate dean for Administration & Finance for the UAB School of Medicine. Bulgarella has more than 18 years of experience in academic healthcare leadership positions, serving in a variety of positions at UAB and the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation since 1993.
Most recently, Bulgarella served as executive administrator of the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Emergency Medicine. She has a bachelor’s degree in commerce and business administration from the University of Alabama and will finish a master’s degree in health administration from UAB next year. She also is a certified public accountant. She will begin her new responsibilities at the school Aug. 1, 2011. Bulgarella will replace Allen Bolton, who is leaving to become senior vice president of Finance and Administration at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
