SOPH faculty named to national council

A UAB environmental sciences professor has been named to a national council.

EPostlethwaitEdward Postlethwait, Ph.D., professor in the UAB Department of Environmental Health Sciences in the School of Public Health, has been appointed to serve on the National Advisory Environmental Health Science Council.

The NAEHS council is a body congressionally mandated to advise, assist, consult with and make recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences on matters related to the activities carried out by and through the Institute and the policies respecting these activities.

Postlethwait has been associated with the NIEHS since the early 1980’s, both as a grantee and as a member of numerous expert panels. Postlethwait’s term on the council began Dec. 1, 2011 and will end Nov. 30, 2015. His first meeting with the council will be in spring 2012.
