Brian Geiger, Ed.D., professor of human studies in the UAB School of Education, is in Brazil representing the American Association for Health Education at the Rio +20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development.
It has been 20 years since the UN has brought together this a body of government officials, international institutions and major groups as large as this gathering. The conference will focus on health issues with a special focus on women and children and fair and equitable labor.
Geiger says he is honored to serve and plans to take what he learns and bring it back to his students to make them aware of global health issues.
