Despina Stavrinos, Ph.D., director of UAB’s Translational Research for Injury Prevention Laboratory (TRIP Lab), has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Psychology. She was previously assigned to the UAB School of Medicine with a secondary appointment in psychology.
The TRIP Lab, and the work being done to prevent and control unintended injuries, will continue under Stavrinos’s leadership; the driving simulators used for research will remain in UAB’s Edward R. Roybal Center for Research on Applied Gerontology. Stavrinos’ appointment also includes teaching the department’s first online statistical class, PY 214 “Elementary Statistical Methods and Design.”
