The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees named Thomas W. Weatherford III, D.V.M., D.M.D., as professor emeritus in the Department of Periodontology during its meeting on Nov. 2, 2012. Weatherford completed his dental medicine and master of dentistry degrees at UAB and joined the faculty in 1962. He served in several administrative positions, including director of the master of science program in the School of Dentistry.
