UAB adjunct honored as ‘outstanding practitioner’

jharringtonJudith Harrington, Ph.D., a marriage and family counselor and instructor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Human Studies, was named the 2013 Outstanding Practitioner by Chi Sigma Iota, International.

The award is for a member who demonstrates excellence in his or her clinical practice through identification as professional counselor, provision of exceptional clinical services, education of fellow practitioners through publications and conference presentations, possession of appropriate state licenses and certifications, and overall service to the counseling profession.

Harrington will be presented during the CSI award ceremony at the American Counseling Association’s annual conference. Chi Sigma Iota is the international honor society for professional counselors with a mission to promote excellence in the counseling profession through providing leadership training, research grant funding, continuing education and advocacy for more than 85,000 initiated members in 285 chapters at universities in the United States and globally.
