The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees appointed J. Max Austin Jr., M.D., professor emeritus in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology during its meeting on Sept. 13, 2013. Austin joined the UAB faculty in 1973 and served as director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology from 1975-79. He held the Margaret Cameron Spain Endowed Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2008-12.
