The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees named E. George Salter, Ph.D., professor emeritus in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology during its meeting on Sept. 13, 2013. Salter earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from UAB and returned as a faculty member in 1978. He was the first recipient of the UAB President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1991.
