Professor known for evolution in the classroom named to Smithsonian committee

Lee Meadows has been selected to help the Smithsonian with Hall of Human Origins

lee meadowsLee Meadows, Ph.D., professor of curriculum and instruction in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Education, has been named to the Broader Social Impacts Committee for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

The committee will help the Smithsonian as it assembles the Hall of Human Origins, which is a collection of early human fossils. The group will serve to ensure the museum is in good dialogue with the public about the evolution of man, a topic that could be controversial.

Meadows guides science teachers on how to teach evolution in the classroom, and he published a book, “The Missing Link,” which shares ideas on approaching evolution in a way that may avoid hurt feelings and misunderstandings.
