Warren named co-director of UAB Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation

Mary Warren has been named co-director of the UAB Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation

mary_warren_2010_1Mary Warren, Ph.D., has been named co-director of the UAB Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation at the UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. She joins co-director Marsha Snow, O.D., associate professor in the School of Optometry and director Dawn DeCarlo, O.D., associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology.

Warren, an associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy and director of the graduate certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation, will be responsible for the quality of the rehabilitation therapy services provided in the clinic and developing research projects to enhance the services. She will work with staff to ensure the clinic is providing high-quality, evidence-based services and provide educational experiences for the entry-level, post-professional and graduate-certificate students in occupational therapy.

Warren is internationally known for work her in low-vision rehabilitation. She chaired the panel that developed the American Occupational Therapy Association’s specialty certification in low-vision rehabilitation. Her research has been published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy and she was guest editor for a special issue devoted to low-vision rehabilitation.
