UAB Medicine to host annual Pain Symposium

Knee Pain ts 1UAB presents New Frontiers of Pain Research in the 21st Century, Oct. 14-15.The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, College of Arts and SciencesDepartment of Psychology, and the UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center present “New Frontiers of Pain Research in the 21st Century” at the 2016 Pain Symposium.

Registration is open and abstracts are now being accepted for the symposium, which will be held Oct. 14-15 in the UAB Hill Student Center. All pain researchers, clinicians and students are welcome. Early registration will be accepted before Sept. 16. The cost is $50 for faculty, physicians or other health care professionals, and $25 for residents and postdoctoral fellows. Free student admission is available on a limited basis.

Keynote speakers include Robert Edwards, Ph.D., of Harvard Medical School, Jon Levine, M.D., of the University of California, San Francisco, and Jeffrey Mogil, M.D., of McGill University. The program also includes talks from 12 additional presenters with a focus on identifying meaningful directions for the future of pain research and treatment.
