A $20,000 grant from Southwest Airlines will fund 50 round-trip tickets for patients and their caregivers who need to travel to UAB for health care in 2011 and need financial assistance to do so. The Southwest Airlines Medical Transportation Grant Program allows the hospital’s Department of Social Services to screen referrals for eligibility based on financial and medical need. UAB is the only medical facility in Alabama to be chosen to participate in the program.
