On Monday, Aug. 13, all students and the general public are invited to see pop/rock/soul star Andy Grammer free in the “Blazing on the Green” fall concert. UAB student group Festival Expressions will open the show at 7 p.m., with Grammer taking the stage at approximately 7:50 p.m. on the Campus Green. The concert is sponsored by Undergraduate Student Government, Blaze Productions and the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. Grammer got his start as a street performer in Santa Monica, California. In 2011 he was named “An Artist to Watch” by Billboard magazine, and he performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Live with Regis & Kelly,” toured with Natasha Bedingfield and Colbie Caillat, shared the stage with Taylor Swift and was the first male pop star since Jason Mraz in 2003 to reach the Top 5 at Adult Pop Radio for his first single, “Keep Your Head Up.”
