Cancer Center to host annual community report event

The annual community event will be held Oct. 8.

progress_promise_sThe UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center will present “Progress & Promise,” its annual report to the community, at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center, 1200 10th Ave. South.

This year’s event, built around the theme “Common Questions, Uncommon Answers,” also will provide an opportunity for the community to have their questions answered by an expert panel of scientists, physicians, program leaders and cancer survivors. Panelists will answer questions submitted by the public in a clear and easy-to-understand manner while providing information on the Cancer Center’s distinctive approaches to preventing, treating and surviving cancer. Following the program, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with UAB physicians and scientists at a reception to ask further questions.

Sherri Jackson, CBS 42 anchor, will moderate the event and the station will be streaming it live on its website, www.cbs42.com. RSVP to 205-934-0034.
