A favorite of Birmingham audiences, McKnight will make his first ASC appearance in the ASC’s Jemison Concert Hall, 1200 10th Ave. South. Tickets are $66.50, $57.50 and $47.50. Call 205-975-2787 or visit www.AlysStephens.org.

A master of the smooth, easy-listening love- and love-lost song, McKnight has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. McKnight, who plays eight instruments – piano, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, trombone, tuba, flugelhorn and trumpet – is most recognized for his strong falsetto range and his charming, silk-soft voice. He is widely regarded as one of the strongest talents in the contemporary R&B genre.

McKnight has released a dozen studio and five compilation albums in his career, and he has placed seven albums in the Top 10 on Billboard’s R&B chart over 15 years. His latest is “More Than Words.” He has received numerous honors, including Soul Train Awards and Image Awards, and he holds the somewhat bittersweet record of 16 Grammy nominations without a win. McKnight also has received nominations for MTV Video Music, BET and American Music awards. He has worked with artists including Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, R&B and hip-hop duo The Underdogs, Christina Aguilera and Grammy-winning R&B team Tim and Bob (also known as the Funktwons).
