Ages: High school juniors and seniors

When: June 17-21, 2013

Description: Material engineers make things better, stronger, lighter, faster, safer and smarter. They study metals, ceramics, glass, plastics, composites, nanomaterials and semiconductors for everything from disposable contact lenses to computer chips and crankshafts. Camp will consist of interactive lectures, hands-on laboratory sessions and a multi-day engineering design project.

Cost: Free. All materials, instruction, transportation and meals during the day are provided at no cost to students. Participants also receive a UAB Materials Camp T-shirt.
