The University of Alabama System Board of trustees appointed Doreen Harper, Ph.D., R.N., to the Fay Ireland Endowed Chair for the Dean of the UAB School of Nursing during its meeting April 8, 2011. Harper earned her doctorate from the University of Maryland. She was named dean of the UAB School of Nursing in 2005.
