The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees established an endowed professorship in French and Proust studies in the UAB College of Arts and Sciences during its meeting Sept. 16, 2011.
The professorship is being created in honor of William Carter, Ph.D., distinguished professor emeritus of French in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and will be funded by gifts made in his honor.
