Wes Granger, Ph.D., is one of six people chosen to serve on the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) Ad Hoc Workgroup on strategies for 2015. Granger is an associate professor in the Respiratory Therapy program in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
The group will be working on plans to move the profession forward and assure that future respiratory therapists receive adequate training to prepare them for the competencies identified in the published reports for workforce preparedness for 2015 and beyond.
Granger has more than 40 years of experience in respiratory therapy including clinical and academic education positions. He is a scientist in the UAB Lung Health Center and the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center. His research interests include mathematical modeling of physiologic systems.
Granger received his bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of South Florida in 1974 and his Ph.D. in physiology from the Medical College of Georgia in 1983. He is an active member of the Alabama Society for Respiratory Care (ASRC), American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and the American Physiological Society (APS).
