  • April 23, 2013

The ADEA Leadership Institute will prepare Fellows for expanded roles in their institutions and the profession.

Maureen Pezzementi, D.M.D., associate professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry, is one of 24 ADEA Leadership Institute Fellows selected for the ADEA Leadership Institute Class of 2014. In March, she was inducted into the class at the 2013 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in Seattle.

Each of the 24 ADEA Leadership Institute Fellows was selected for the year-long education experience through a competitive application process. The ADEA Leadership Institute will prepare these Fellows for expanded roles in their institutions and the profession. They emerge not only with the knowledge and skills necessary for their careers, but also with greater self-understanding and deeper personal vision.

Designed to assist the nation's most promising individuals at academic institutions in becoming leaders in dental and higher education, ADEA Leadership Institute sessions cover leadership theory, team building, communications, managing change, public policy, educational policy, legal issues, research and budgeting and financial management, all designed to guide and enhance professional development.
