The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees appointed Melinda M. Lalor, Ph.D., professor emerita in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Engineering during its meeting on Sept. 13, 2013. Lalor earned her bachelor of science in civil engineering degree cum laude from UAB in 1989 and joined the faculty that year as an instructor and research assistant. She was appointed associated dean of the school in 2005 and interim dean in 2011. She received the UAB President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1998.
