UAB’s Ferniany listed among nation’s leading nonprofit health system CEOs

UAB Health System CEO Will Ferniany has been named to Becker’s Healthcare list of influential nonprofit health care organization leaders.

Will ferniany 2017Will Ferniany, Ph.D., the CEO of the UAB Health System, has been named to the 2017 list of Becker’s Healthcare “183 nonprofit hospital and health system CEOs to know.” The list reflects some of the largest and most successful nonprofit health care organizations in the country. The Becker’s Healthcare editorial team accepted nominations for this list and made selections based on editorial judgment.

The Becker’s profile touts Ferniany as a senior health care leader since 1975 and in academic medicine since 1988. He became CEO of UAB Health System in 2008. He has held key executive positions at UAB, University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson and the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia. Ferniany earned his bachelor’s degree in manpower and industrial relations from the University of Alabama, his master’s degree in hospital and health administration, and his doctorate in health services administration from UAB.

The organization says the list is not an endorsement of included hospitals or health systems, or associated providers. Leaders did not pay for inclusion on this list and are presented in alphabetical order.
