Givan elected secretary of national prosthodontists board

A UAB School of Dentistry professor has been named to the Board of Directors for the American College of Prosthodontists.

daniel givan 2017 vDaniel Givan, DMD, Ph.D., FACP, has been named secretary to the Board of Directors of the American College of Prosthodontists. A professor of restorative sciences in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, Givan serves as a fellow and diplomate to the American College of Prosthodontists.

In his role as secretary, Givan will be responsible for ensuring that records of the American College of Prosthodontists are maintained and available as needed. He also is chair of the Council for the American Board of Prosthodontics, which helps with the selection of examiners for the board certification assessment.

“To be able to represent our specialty’s professional organization is something I’m humbled by and delighted to be a part of,” Givan said. “It’s been exciting to watch prosthodontics evolve over my time in the field, and I look forward to continuing to help advance prosthodontics both with the College and with UAB School of Dentistry moving forward.”

At the School of Dentistry, Givan also serves as associate chair for the department, as division head of Prosthodontics and as the assistant director of the Graduate Prosthodontics Residency.
