Assistant Professor Ho-Wook Jun, Ph.D., from the UAB Department of Biomedical Engineering, has received a National Science Foundation Career Award. The $407,000 award benefits Jun's research into a bioactive hybrid nanomatrix for intervertebral disk regeneration.
The NSF Career Award is considered to be among the foundation's most prestigious awards and supports the early career-development activities of those teacher-scholars who most effectively integrate research and education within the context of the mission of their organization.
