Several UAB faculty will present papers at this weekend’s American Sociological Association’s 106th annual meeting:
- “The Intersection of Gender and Place in Online Health Activities” by Melinda Goldner, Timothy Hale, Shelia Cotten, Michael Stern and Patricia Drentea.
- “If You’re Not Texting Me, You Must Be Old, So Leave Me a Message Mom: A Cohort Analysis of Emotional Attachment to Mobile Phones,” by Amanda Warr, Shelia Cotten and William Anderson.
- “Internet Use and Psychological Well-Being in Older Adults,” by Ronald W. Berkowsky.
- “The Relationship Between Technology Usage and Mental Health Among Youth,” by LaToya O’Neal, Timothy Hale and Shelia Cotten.
Cotten, an associate professor of sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences, is chair-elect of ASA’s Communications and Information Technology section.
