The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Materials Processing and Applications Development Center in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Engineering at its meeting on Sept. 13, 2013. The center will be interdisciplinary and involve faculty leaders from the College of Arts and Sciences and the schools of Business, Medicine and Public Health.
