UAB’s School of Nursing to host faculty practice brown bag on documentation and coding

Effective Oct. 1, all HIPAA-covered entities must be ICD-10 compliant; there will be no delays or grace periods

brown bagThe UAB School of Nursing Faculty Practice Committee and the Office of Clinical Affairs and Partnerships are hosting a continuing education brown bag lunch seminar at noon Tuesday, March 11, on “Documentation and Coding for ICD-10.”

The seminar, led by Brian Bates, CPA, CHC, MAC, UAHSF corporate compliance officer, will be held in Room 1020 in the UAB School of Nursing. Effective Oct. 1, all HIPAA-covered entities must be ICD-10-compliant. ICD codes are the core element of the EMR system, and there will be no delays or grace period for implementing the change to ICD-10. This continuing education offering has been reviewed and approved for 1.2 ABN and 1.0 ANCC contact hours.
