UAB to host high school computer programming contest

laptop classroom sThe State of Alabama High School Programming Contest will bring talented students from across the state to the University of Alabama at Birmingham on May 17 for a contest that tests computer programming skills.

The competition is open to all Alabama high school students, and registration is open online now through Friday, May 16.

Participants in the event will compete as individuals or teams to demonstrate their programming prowess and problem-solving abilities. The contestants will attempt to solve six programming problems within a three-hour period. All solutions to the problems must be coded in Java or C++.

The event will be held in UAB’s Campbell Hall from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Student participants will begin the day with registration, a tour of the UAB Department of Computer and Information Sciences, and lunch. The contest begins at noon, and the day will conclude with an awards presentation.
