University of Alabama at Birmingham Veterans Services will commemorate Veterans Day by hosting its Annual Wreath-Laying Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 10, on the campus green.

Service will begin at 1 p.m. with the posting of colors by UAB’s ROTC, followed by a prayer from retired Bessemer Police Chief Nathaniel Rutledge. U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Ala.) will be the guest speaker for the wreath-laying ceremony.

UAB is committed to supporting veterans in education, employment and health care. The wreath-laying ceremony is a visible token of the university’s appreciation of the service of countless men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces. It is also a reminder of UAB’s commitment to veterans as they transition back into civilian life.

Following the prayer and remarks by Rep. Sewell, light refreshments will be served in the Veterans Services Office in the Hill Student Center, Room 313.
