The UAB American Society of Safety Engineers student section will be presented its official charter Friday, March 30, 2012. The charter will be presented by the Alabama Chapter of ASSE, on behalf of the national ASSE, during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the UAB Alumni House. Management from Mercedes, Honda, Hyundai, Southern Company, OSHA, Energen, Walter Energy and the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta will be in attendance for this historic day.
The event will also recognize UAB ASSE faculty adviser Martha Bidez, Ph.D., who was recently named the ASSE Region IV Safety Professional of the Year. Brent Gage, Ph.D., UAB associate provost for enrollment management, will be the keynote speaker.
