“I know there are plenty of wonderful students in the College of Arts and Sciences and I was shocked to learn that I was the student chosen” Nadendla says. “This award is a great honor because it recognizes all the hard work and effort that I have put in during the past four years.”

Nadendla, the Neuroscience Program Outstanding Student, received research training in the lab of James Meador-Woodruff, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Neurobiology. She is doing research on autism with Rajesh Kana, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Psychology. Nadendla, who is from Huntingtown, Md., will begin medical school at the UAB School of Medicine in July. Her goal is to have a career in academic medicine, practice at a leading university and teach future physicians.
