Tripp awarded Tau Beta Pi scholarship

Tripp, an honors student, will receive a cash award of $2,000 while in his senior year studying civil engineering

Brandon Tripp was awarded a scholarship from Tau Beta Pi — the engineering honor society — for the 2013-14 school year. Tripp, an honors student, will receive a cash award of $2,000 while in his senior year studying civil engineering in the UAB School of Engineering. The scholarships are awarded to junior members on a competitive basis of high scholarship, campus leadership and service and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.

Tripp is president of the Alabama Gamma chapter of Tau Beta Pi, a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society and president of the National Society of Black Engineers.

According to the organization, Tau Beta Pi  membership represents the highest honor to be obtained by an engineering student. It is awarded on the basis of high scholarship and exemplary character.
