UAB Digital Media wins national prize for TEDxBirmingham video

“TEDxBirmingham: Rediscover the Magic” wins the top prize in the Visual, Cinematography category of the American Advertising Federation Awards.

UAB’s Digital Media team brought home a Silver National ADDY in the Visual, Cinematography category at the recent American Advertising Federation Awards in Boca Raton, Florida. Judged by eight top creative directors from around the country, the AAF American Advertising Awards Competition features some of the best professional projects by agencies and organizations nationwide.

The Student American Advertising Awards Competition is a subset of the larger competition that allows colleges and universities to showcase their work in publication design, film, digital design, elements of advertising, nontraditional advertising and animation. Applicants must be enrolled full or part time in an accredited U.S. educational institution.

UAB’s Silver for their film, “TEDxBirmingham: Rediscover the Magic,” was the top prize in the Visual, Cinematography category since no Golds were awarded by the judges. Their entry was one of more than 40,000 total entries in the competition.

“I am incredibly proud of our students,” said Rosie O’Beirne, director of Digital Media and Innovative Learning. “Receiving this national recognition is a testament to the creativity and talent we have here at UAB. When given the tools and the space to produce, our students show they can be the best in the country.”
