summer research expo 2011 10The eighth annual UAB EXPO: An Exposition of Undergraduate Scholarship will showcase research and scholarly work by University of Alabama at Birmingham undergraduate students across all academic disciplines and departments.

The expo gives young researchers experience presenting their ideas in the format used by many academic conferences, and it provides a forum for students to discuss cutting-edge research and creative topics with faculty and the UAB community. In 2014, nearly 300 undergraduate presenters participated in the student-planned and -led event.

In 2015, complementary to poster and oral presentations, the expo is emphasizing a more interactive approach. Student presentations will include models, robots, designs, art sculptures, 3-D structures and interactive media.

This year’s expo will feature a keynote address by Jennifer Pollock, Ph.D., professor of medicine in UAB’s Division of Nephrology. She will present a talk titled “So you say you like research?” to attendees.

The 2015 poster presentation session will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, in the Campus Recreation Center, 1401 University Blvd. Oral presentations will take place prior to the poster presentations, from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Ryals Public Health Building at 1665 University Blvd.

The keynote address will begin at 1 p.m. in Heritage Hall Room 102, and the awards ceremony will follow.
