The University of Alabama at Birmingham hosts several summer camps on campus each year. Presented by UAB departments and groups, the camps offer fun activities for children and easy and convenient choices for parents. Check this page for updates and camps added as they become available.

Computer Programming and Robotics; June 5-9

Students will learn basic programming skills, algorithms for decision-making, efficient programming techniques through intensive hands-on projects and experiments using Arduino computer boards.

This course will cover basics of automation systems, sensors, system input/outputs, and feedbacks. Students will learn basic programming skills, algorithms for decision-making, efficient programming techniques through intensive hands-on projects and experiments using Arduino computer boards. Students will learn how to build, test and program autonomous cars. They will use various sensors and programs to control robotic activities and tasks. Camp material promotes critical thinking, solving complex programming challenges and engineering problems. All experiments and examples will be implemented on programmable robotic cars. At the end of the camp, the camper will take home all the tools and materials including robot cars and arduino boards for their use at home. Lunch at the green cafeteria is provided.

Ages: 12-16

Dates: June 5-9, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
