Think scientific research or medicine might be for you?  Check it out here as you learn to fight viruses, create vaccines, and play with DNA!  Of course, we’ll also explore UAB labs, talk about college life, and much more!  HotScience at UAB is a summer workshop for high school students and entering freshmen with an interest in science.  Students will learn 21st century skills such as protein folding, biochemistry and DNA techniques in a fun and welcoming environment. Skills learned are applicable to forensics, genomic medicine and other cutting-edge fields. Participants will also meet student and faculty mentors to assist with college and career questions. Applications will be accepted until camp is full.

Ages: Rising 11th- and 12th-graders and entering UAB freshmen
Dates: July 17-21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Cost: $150, limited number of scholarships available
Address: UAB Chemistry Building, 933 19th St. South, with visits to several other locations on campus.
