Entrepreneurship – STEM Enrichment Program, 2018

Written by

The E-STEM Enrichment Program is composed of seven core modules that will cover entrepreneurial strategies, product development and basic engineering. Students will identify challenging problems they face in their daily lives to serve as the basis for their work during this program. Students will work alongside a business mentor and engineering mentor who will guide them through all seven modules. Students will design a product and a business plan centered around marketing and selling their new product. In addition, students will have an opportunity to listen to entrepreneurs in the STEM industry. After the session, students will participate in Blazer Tank: E-STEM Edition to make a three-minute pitch about their product and the solution they propose to a panel of judges. The program is sponsored by the UAB Regions Institute for Financial Education. The UAB Regions Institute for Financial Education, Birmingham Education Foundation and Operation HOPE Inc. will select students to participate in an interview process, after which 30 students will be selected for the E-STEM Enrichment Program.
