BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mark your calendar for a play date when UAB's Alys Stephens Center presents Disney's "Choo-Choo Soul with Genevieve!" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at the center, 1200 10th Ave. South. Tickets are $15 for kids, $27 for adults. Call 205-975-2787 or go to www.AlysStephens.org.

"Choo-Choo Soul with Genevieve!" is one of the new family fun performances presented by the center. Come early at 2 p.m. for an exciting preview celebration of the Alys Stephens Center's new Arts Education Institute, ArtPlay, set to open January 2011.

Then get on board with musical artist Genevieve Goings as she drives her train through fantastical lands while singing soulful, contemporary, kid-friendly hip-hop songs about ABC's, 1-2-3s, being polite and more. Winner of the 2007 Parents Choice Award for children's television, "Choo-Choo Soul" features Genevieve, the super-hip train conductor, and DC, the beat-boxing, break-dancing engineer. The show airs daily on the Disney channel.

Children will love the stage performance, which features the diverse and incredibly hip duo as they teach children with high-energy music and dancing. Parents will enjoy the inspiring, imaginative show. "Choo-Choo Soul" will have the entire family breaking it down and busting moves in the aisles.

Goings has been creating music since childhood. Her studio career began in hip-hop, writing and recording "hooks" for local artists, then expanded into joining groups and free styling at San Francisco venues. Her voice is featured on video games and children's toys. She recently released a solo album, "Diversity Personified," a title expressive of not only her diverse heritage, but her effortless knack for combining genres and styles.

Constantine "DC" Abramson is a renaissance man of the entertainment world. Break dancing, beat boxing, acting and painting are only a few of his talents: he also works with the NBA'S Golden State Warriors as their team mascot, "Thunder."
