Biography
Dr. Azuero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health,
Outcomes and Systems. He holds a BSc in industrial engineering from Universidad
de Los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia, an MBA with concentration in information systems
from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, and finished his PhD in
biostatistics at UAB in 2008. His dissertation examined sequential testing
methodologies in the context of genetic association studies. Prior to joining
the SON, Dr. Azuero received 3 years of practical training in statistical
analysis at the UAB Division of Preventive Medicine.
Research/Clinical Interest
Dr. Azuero's main statistical research interests are in the areas of sequential
analysis and multiple testing adjustments. Additional statistical research
interests include interim analyses, regression analysis, nonparametric methods,
and categorical data analysis.
Applied research interests include genetic association studies, and the design,
management, and analysis of clinical trials and health interventions.
