Experience
Ms. Cleveland was on faculty at the School of Nursing for 25 years, teaching Fundamentals, Adult Health and various other courses. She was coordinator of "Perspectives on Lifetime Health" which included nursing history content until retirement in 1997 to pursue other interests. Ms. Cleveland continues to remain active in nursing through community efforts. "Retirement" afforded more time to devote to preserving the records and memorabilia by working closely with the School of Nursing Development and Alumni Relations office and UAB Historical Collections department.

Selected Activities:
2008 Historical Display: Annual Alumni Night: Celebrating Alumni, Nurses Week and Florence Nightingale's Birthday, ongoing since 2008.
 

2008 Historical Display: STTI Nu Chapter 50th Anniversary, The Club, Honoring Dr. Margaret Millsap, 2008.
 

2007 Assisted with “Uniform Parade” (modeled by nursing students), ASNA Convention, Wynfrey Hotel.
 

2005 Presenter: “25th Anniversary of UASON Alumni Chapter,” Harbert Center.
 

2000 Coordinator with Stefanie Rookis, Curator of Alabama Museum of Health Sciences, Lister Hill Library, "UASON's 50th Anniversary Historical Exhibit," the Reynolds Historical Lecture and related events. Post event activities included scrapbook, photo album, and video editing of historical exhibit presentation/tour.
 

1975-1991 Chair, Alumni Newsletter committee. This committee was responsible for compiling, editing and getting copy ready for print to distribute to alumni.
 

1997 Historical Exhibit: 30th Anniversary of SON's move to Birmingham, Annual Alumni Meeting
Presenter: "History of the Nursing Cap, Lamp and Pin" at the Lamp of Learning ceremony to new nursing students, ongoing since 2003.
 

Member, 60th SON Anniversary (2010) Planning Committee.
 

Maintaining archives cabinets for the SON and former University Hospital diploma programs in Archives Collections room, formerly GO29.
 

Consultation with faculty, staff, alumni and others regarding SON memorabilia resources.
 

Facilitate the location and use of relevant archives for various projects.

It should be noted that Pat is the first and only archivist at the SON since 1980. Her position was "self created" (with the blessing of Dean Marie O'Koren) because of her love for preserving the School's rich history. Appointed SON Archivist by Dean Harper, 2007. Provided an official office in 2008 and large storage area in 2009.
