The UAB School of Nursing magazine is an annual publication that shares the school's recent news and accomplishments with our alumni, community, and friends.

 

Leaders With a Vision

In celebration of the School's 60th Anniversary, the School honored 60 alumni as "Visionary Leaders". These distinguished alumni were nominated and recognized for their significant impact on the nursing profession and health care.  Also included are outstanding alumni who were nominated and named "Recognized Leaders" for their nursing leadership.

PAHO-WHO Collaborating Centre Brochure
The School of Nursing at UAB was initially designated as a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for International Nursing in 1993. The school was redesignated in 1997 and most recently in April 2007 for the four-year term of April 2007-2011. It is one of 10 WHO Collaboration Centres in Nursing in the United States and one of 45 in the world.  The WHO designation recognizes the School of Nursing's sustained involvement and interest in global nursing development.

Strategic Plan Brochure
Five major goals drive a blueprint for the future of UAB's School of Nursing- a strategic plan designed and improved by the School's faculty.  The faculty also identified strategies for achieving these goals, as well as indicators of success they feel should exist by the year 2011. The five goals include: 1) provide integrated, innovation programs to promate excellence in teaching, research, and service that are responsive to workforce and health needs, 2) create a work and learning environemnt that develops and supports the School of Nursing community, 3) establish effective external strategic partnerships and collabroation for teaching, research and clinical service- with emphasis on UAB Health System parterns and Alabama's most vulnerable populations, 4)expand resources and revenues from multiple sources sufficent to meet these goals, and 5) extend visibility of the School of Nursing in all venues of influence as a recognized leader.  To learn more about the School's strategic plan please downloas the school's Strategic Plan Brochure.
