She began her career as an Emergency Medical Technician in the emergency department while attending nursing school. Her areas of clinical focus, since graduating from nursing school in 1986, have been in emergency/trauma and critical care. For the last six years she has worked as an acute care nurse practitioner in the area of interventional and non-interventional cardiology. She has worked as an adjunct faculty in a community college in Florida as well as at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. She has served as a legal consultant and expert witness in numerous nursing mal-practice cases, nurse preceptor for Genentech Pharmaceuticals, first aid instructor for Pan American Airlines and Air Canada.
