Dr. Walker received her BSN & MSN from Troy University and her DNP from the University of South Alabama. Prior to her appointment at the School of Nursing, Dr. Walker has held positions as a registered nurse in critical care and the emergency department and as an advanced practice nurse in a variety of clinical settings. As an advanced practice nurse her experience has been in the area of adult hematology/oncology. Her primary practice roles have included clinician, educator, manager, and mentor. Dr. Walker has served on various committees with the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) on the local and national levels.
