Wright Receives HRSA Award for Diabetes Program

Annette Wright, PhD, CRNP, Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing received a three year, $838,190 award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HRSA) for a training grant entitled “Culturally Competent, Distance Accessible Doctorate of Nursing Practice Nurse Practitioner with Advanced Management of Diabetes (CCDNP-AMD) Program.”  This project seeks to increase the number of advanced practice primary and acute care nurses with AMD skills in one of the nation’s most underserved regions (AL, GA, MS and TN). To learn more about the Diabetes Program offered in conjunction with the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree please click here.

Dr. Wright received her PhD in Health Education/Health Promotion from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, MSN from Troy State University, and BSN Auburn University at Montgomery.  Her research interests include diabetes management, disease prevention, and family health nursing.  Dr. Wright holds appointments as a scientist in UAB's Comprehensive Diabetes Center and UAB's Diabetes Research and Training Center.
