Scholarships for Graduate Students
The UAB School of Nursing offers both need-based and academic merit scholarships. Students must be currently enrolled as a full-time student or anticipating acceptance into the graduate nursing program to be considered. Enrollment requirements do not have to be met at the time of application, but must be met before scholarship funds are disbursed. Completing the one application makes you eligible for all scholarships. Application for need-based and merit scholarshps can be made at Graduate Scholarship Application.
A limited number of academic merit scholarships are available to accepted applicants who, in the judgment of the Scholarship Committee, have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership capabilities, and extracurricular involvement.
Eligibility for need-based scholarships will be based on the calculated expected family contribution (EFC) based on the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). For more information and to complete the FAFSA, click FAFSA.
Traineeships and Fellowships
HRSA - Advanced Nursing Education Traineeship Program
Financial support through traineeships are available for registered nurses enrolled in a primary care nurse practitioner specialty track in the MSN program (Family NP, Adult Primary Care, Peds Primary Care, Women's Adult Primary Care, and Psych Mental Health). Preference is given to applicants who intend to practice in rural, medically underserved and health professional shortage areas. Teaching Assistant Fellowship
The UAB School of Nursing has a limited number of teaching assistant fellowships that require the awardee to work 20 hours a week in a teaching role. The fellowship provides up to $12,000 per year, in tuition, spread over a 12 month period.
