Another Round of Applause!
Nurses touch everyone. At some point in each of our lives, we will all need the care of a nurse. This is especially true for Alabama’s most vulnerable and frail patients – Who will care for them?
In Alabama, we face our own set of barriers to healthcare, including access to care in rural communities, an aging population requiring the most intense nursing care, and over half a million of our nation’s veterans with complex healthcare needs. The impact a well-educated nurse has on a community is important today, perhaps more than ever. Doctoral education equips nurses with valuable knowledge and skills to lead change, promote health, and elevate care for all of us, especially in these fragile populations.
For over 20 years, the Board of Visitors for the UAB School of Nursing has been committed to creating scholarships for our state’s most promising future nurses, and this year is no different. We are expanding our impact with an effort we are calling, “Another Round of Applause!” that will raise the quality of care available to Alabama’s most vulnerable populations by providing scholarships for doctoral nursing education. Instead of holding an event, this year we will focus our efforts on educating the community – our community, on the need for advanced practice nurses while raising money for graduate nursing education.
Our vision is that every person living in a nursing home in Alabama is cared for by an advanced practice nurse, that communities located throughout our state’s Black Belt Region have access to quality healthcare, and that Alabama’s veterans have the best care available for them and their families - because that’s what they deserve! We believe that exceptional nursing care is essential to these delicate populations, and together, with the UAB School of Nursing and your support, we can begin to make this vision a reality.
We invite you to join us in educating exceptional nurses to advance the quality of healthcare not only in our community, but all over the state. Your support of, “Another Round of Applause” will help a nurse receive advanced training and break down barriers to improve quality of health for so many vulnerable and deserving people. We are passionate about nursing education and we are deeply grateful for your generosity.
