Karmie Johnson has been a WHOCC Collaborating Center Scholar since early 2013. She is currently an Instructor in the Community Health and Outcomes department in the UAB school of nursing.
From 2001-2003 she served as a volunteer with the Peace Corps in Samoa where she gained tremendous experience creating innovative programs in school health, including an injury treatment program for rugby players in Samoa, in addition to teaching science at the high school there. Her teaching experience in Samoa further prepared her for the path ahead which included years working as an RN in various roles with diverse populations. We are lucky to have her as part of the WHOCC Collaborating Center team of scholars!
