PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center Scholars

Faculty members and community partners who contribute to the work of the Collaborating Center can apply for recognition as PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center Scholars. The guidelines for the Scholar appointments are on the School of Nursing Intranet Site under “School-Wide Documents”.  The following faculty have received this recognition:

Dr. Walker has worked with other faculty as a Fulbright Senior Specialist (2014), spending six weeks (two, 3-week periods) collaborating with the University of Malawi (Africa), Kamuzu College of Nursing faculty helping them integrate oncology content throughout their undergraduate courses. She has also led teams to conduct workshops for students, faculty and healthcare professionals on oncology and palliative care in Malawi.
Over the next several years Dr. Walker would like to continue to build on these relationships that have begun in Zambia and Malawi, helping them build a strong oncology program within their country.  Her background in oncology nursing and now education, gives her the skills to help nurses globally strengthen their oncology leadership and nursing education.
