Alumna Soha Sahwan looks to UAB School of Nursing for best practices

SohaThe UAB School of Nursing exists within a medical epicenter that brings patients from all over the country to UAB's top-ranked health care facilities. With countless resources, exceptional medical professionals, it's no wonder that UAB is among the top academic medical centers in the country.

Soha Sahwan, RN, MSN, an alumna from the School's Nursing Health Systems Administration (NHSA) Program recognized the consistent growth and innovation at UAB and sought to become part of it once more. She returned to her alma mater in the summer of 2014 for a visiting scholar and mentorship program that will aid her in a career transition.


YBCSN event teaches the whole family coping strategies

005survivorsSaturday, April 5, 2014 young breast cancer survivors, their spouses, and children gathered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing to attend the second annual Young Breast Cancer Survivors Network (YBCSN) Workshop.

The workshop was specially designed to help improve the quality of life for young breast cancer survivors and their loved ones through education, personal support and networking.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing is home to a one-of-its-kind, interactive exhibit of 50 famous Florence Nightingale letters. School of Nursing Dean Doreen C. Harper, Ph.D., analyzed the components of these letters, which highlight Nightingale’s visionary leadership for global health and nursing within the historical context of Great Britain’s colonization of India.


UAB SNA and members honored at AANS annual state convention

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Student Nursing Association (UAB SNA) has received the Outstanding Breakthrough to Nursing Project for their biannual "Day in the Life" program from the Alabama Association of Nursing Students (AANS).
