Rice Named Chair-Elect of Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science

 

Marti-Rice-for-webMarti Rice, PhD, RN, FAAN, has been selected to serve as the 2013-2014 chair-elect of the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS). As chair-elect, Rice’s responsibilities include strategic planning, leading meetings, serving as representative to the National Nursing Research Roundtable, and facilitating special initiatives.

CANS is the nursing science arm of the American Academy of Nursing that is open to anyone wishing to join in being a strong voice nationally and internationally for the development, conduct and utilization of nursing science. CANS’ mission is to promote better health through nursing science and to be recognized as the collective, national voice for nursing science.

University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Associate Professor Susanne Fogger, DNP, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, has been elected to the 2013-2014 Board of Directors for the International Nurses Society on Addictions.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing’s Mary Beth Bodin has been named the recipient of the Cindajo Overton Outstanding Educator Award for the Alabama State Nurses Association (ASNA) and has been elected as the District 7 council member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP), representing Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Four of Five Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame Inductees are UAB SON Alumni


Four exceptional University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing alumni and professional leaders are 2013 inductees into the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame. 

The induction ceremony took place Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Bryant Conference Center at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
